Salvatore T. March is the David K. Wilson Professor of Management at the Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University. He received a BS in Industrial Engineering (1972) and MS and PhD degrees in Operations Research (1975, 1978) from Cornell University. His primary teaching responsibilities and research interests are in the areas of Information System Development, Logical and Physical Database Design, Distributed Database Design, and Object-Oriented Languages, Development Tools, and Methodologies. His research has appeared in journals such as ACM Computing Surveys, ACM Transactions on Database Systems, Communications of the ACM, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Information and Management, The Journal of MIS, Information Systems, and Information Systems Research. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief for ACM Computing Surveys and as an Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly. He is currently an Associate Editor for Decision Sciences Journal, Information Systems Research, and Information Systems Frontiers. He has been involved in organizing and program committees for numerous conferences including the Entity-Relationship Conference, ACM SIGMOD Conference, IEEE Data Engineering Conference, the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS), and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). He served as a member of the Program Executive Committee for ICIS '99. He is currently president the Steering committee for WITS.
